Summer School: Sick Normality? De-Medicalising Mental Distress

The Centre for Investigating Contemporary Social Ills at the University of Essex, an interdisciplinary research initiative of academics and practitioners, is holding a two day Summer School on 6 and 7 July to provide the latest update on the problems with the current diagnostic paradigm and the associated practices in the mental health system, as well as with alternative ways forward.   For more details of the summer school, and to book, see here.

(I am duty bound to note that there is an unfortunate clash with the Mental Disability Law Network’s biennial conference, being held on exactly those dates in Nottingham.  Hopefully cloning can be invented in the next two months for those wishing to attend both).
