Prolonged disorders of consciousness: national clinical guidelines – developments and conference

The Royal College of Physicians are in the process of updating their guidance on the management of patients in prolonged disorders of consciousness, due for publication in early 2020.  This updating process takes account of clinical and, in particular, case-law developments, which has already led to the production of joint guidance by the BMA and the RCP in December 2018 specifically relating to clinically assisted nutrition and hydration.

A conference discussing key areas of the updated guidance will be held on 18 November at the RCP in London (I will be speaking on developments in the law).  For more details, and to book, see here.
