There are four vacancies, two immediate, and two for a September start, on the Law Society’s Mental Health and Disability Committee. I sit on this and can say without hesitation that it is one of the most fulfilling of the (rather too many!) commitments that I have – a very talented and dedicated group of individuals who have brought about real changes in the law. Indeed, it was the predecessor to this Committee which brought about what ultimately became the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
The Committee are especially seeking candidates who meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Experienced local authority social care lawyers
- Equality and discrimination lawyers or policy professionals
- Expert practitioners in mental health, mental capacity or disability law, able to demonstrate sustained commitment to this field of practice and its future development.
The deadline is 10 April and more can be found here, (including details of how to apply).
