(With thanks to Tim Spencer-Lane for his expert filleting), the briefing notes on the Queen’s speech delivered on 11 May 2021 confirm the following plans for legislation in the world of health and social care:
* Mental Health Act reform – nothing on timing but: “The Government will respond to the consultation later this year, which will pave the way for future legislation”
* on social care reform: “The Government is committed to improving the adult social care system and will bring forward proposals in 2021”
* Health and Care Bill – this will abolish CCGs and place Integrated Care Systems on a statutory footing and include provisions for CQC oversight over how social care is commissioned
