LPS revised (but not final) impact assessment published

A revised impact assessment for the LPS has been published on 28 January 2021.   It needs to be read with the important caveat (to be found on page 4) that:

This is an assessment of the design of LPS as set out in the Mental Capacity (Amendment) Act 2019. It is therefore an incomplete and non-final assessment of the impact of LPS overall. The Government will undertake more detailed impact assessment of LPS overall, including policy details to be specified in secondary legislation, after public consultation.

Two previous assessments were published, both whilst the Bill was going through Parliament, the first dated 9 July 2018, and the second dated 11 February 2019.    The current version sets out a summary of changes, including, notably, increased provision for advocacy costs and a cost for medical assessments (in 20% of cases) and capacity assessments (in 40% of cases).
