The Law Commission has just published an interim report upon its Mental Capacity and Deprivation of Liberty project, to which I am on secondment. The report provides a background to the project, a summary of the provisional proposals, a summary of the key messages from the 583 written consultation responses and the public consultation events undertaken last year, and interim conclusions as to the proposals being taken forward with a view to producing draft legislation and our final report by the end of 2016.
I am afraid that I am not able to amplify the interim statement or comment thereupon; however, discussion of it by others in the Mental Capacity Law Newsletter team will be forthcoming in the next Newsletter due out in early June.
