Voting, mental health and mental capacity

A short topical post to add to the mix in the seemingly endless General Election campaign to draw your attention to two things:

(1) the Know your Rights campaign launched by CNWL, which includes a film designed to increase awareness of voting rights of mental health patients;

(2) the excellent post by Lucy Series (from a couple of years ago) to clear up some urban myths about mental capacity and voting, the short point being that no one has the right to prevent another from voting on the basis that they consider that other person does not have the capacity to do so.

These issues are in my humble opinion rather more important than whether hot dogs should be eaten with forks.
