Exciting research opportunity – contested capacity assessment

The Wellcome Trust-funded research programme Mental Health and Justice of which I am a part are looking for a Clinical Research Associate for a one-year position starting in February 2018 (although there could be some degree of flexibility on timing). We are looking for someone who has completed (or is shortly due to complete) MRCPsych and is interested in combining academic research with clinical training. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary research team led by Dr Gareth Owen (psychiatry, Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, King’s College London), Dr Scott Kim (bio-ethics, National Institutes of Health), and I on contested, or hard, mental capacity assessment. The post holder will be fully integrated into the richly interdisciplinary and international research network of the Wellcome Trust project. There will be the opportunity to publish in BJPsych, BMJ Lancet and in medical humanities journals.

The post will suit psychiatrists with some academic background in humanities or law and/or an interest in medical education and adult liaison psychiatry. The post holder will be supported to apply for the MD(Res) programme at the IOPPN.
